My old newspaper cuttings from our days in puppy rescue have revealed a story about Tilly, a greyhound who was rescued from a shed, pregnant and malnourished. She was being fed on a terrier mixer meal – woefully insufficient for her needs as a mum-to-be.
Tilly was taken into foster care and given a diet more appropriate to her needs.
Sadly only two of her pups survived but she was so maternal and adopted another three pups who had been abandoned, saving their lives as well. Tilly went on to thrive and was adopted by her foster carer.
