Looking forward to the plum harvest

Collect around 1kg plums (under-ripe ones are best). Wash these thoroughly discarding ones which are damaged – no need to de-stone them. Place them in a thick-bottomed pan with just under half a pint of mulled wine (or red wine – if you use red wine, sprinkle with nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon etc to your taste).
