One of our clients was having problems with a 6 month old puppy pulling on a harness. I explained that harnesses are basically used so that dogs can pull, eg sled dogs. She took my advice and switched to a collar. I also gave some basic advice about pack leadership.
Here’s what she says:
Just a quick email to let you know that I switched Adie to a collar and we haven’t looked back since. She’s brilliant at walking to heel and doesn’t pull at all – unless she spots a lamp post to sniff and then she tries to speed me up! She even walks by people now without getting too excited.
She’s still jumping up a bit when she’s excited but we don’t pet her straight away when we walk in the room and she understands ‘down’ now. In fact, this morning she came running up to me and sat straight down for a cuddle.
Thanks for your advice – brilliant and helpful as ever.
