honey6The cavaliers broke out of the kitchen yesterday afternoon and came rushing through to the lounge. Honey stayed behind to finish the kittens’ biscuits. She is almost 6 weeks pregnant and starting to be noticeable. Apart from the unplanned scoffing of the cat biscuits, we do not substantially increase the amount of food given to a pregnant bitch. This would produce large puppies which potentially can cause problems at whelping time. We do, however, feed 2 smaller meals a day as the puppies take up more room in her abdomen. When she has had her puppies we increase the size of her meals by one meal per 2 puppies. We increase her protein levels too, by feeding eggs, cheese, chicken etc.
