CANINE LEISHMANIASIS ALERT
If your dog has a pet passport and you take him/her abroad please read up on Canine Leishmaniasis, it is a severe, often fatal disease. This disease can also affect humans.
The disease is carried by the bite of tiny flies called sand flies. The cause is a microscopic protozoal parasite called Leishmania infantum.
There is no cure. Treatment is expensive and frequently followed by a relapse. It is suggested that a Scalibor Collar should be worn by all dogs that are going out of the country. This collar, impregnated with deltamethrin offers some protection for a maximum of 3 months.
